Rapid Release Therapy (RRT) has been developed by the founder Gayla Maxwell, based on her 20+ years working with clients to get rapid and sustainable results.
It is based on a blend of classic counselling with hypno-therapy techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, and practical take-home activities to support clients to move very quickly from where they are stuck, to where they want to be and how they want to feel.
RRT focuses on rebuilding confidence, joy, passion and certainty about who you are 'by nature'. When you get who that is place internally, the external world seems to get a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.
NO! This is the greatest misconception. I address this aspect of RRT first because hypnosis has been so misrepresented it can be frightening to people. The reality is, if used properly for therapeutic purposes, it has the power to move a client in their desired direction far more quickly than any talk based counselling or therapies.
During a hypno-therapy session, you will be gently guided through a process to induce a deeply relaxing state. It can feel as if you're just being talked into that lovely pre-sleep state, however you never completely sleep.
Hypno-therapy utilizes the heightened awareness of the relaxed state to help you focus on a problem more deeply, and transforming a past negative believe or trauma into a positive empowering knowing within. This knowing then fuels new, healthier, more positive thoughts, feeling and behaviors.
RRT combines and uses the tools most needed for each individual. Some of the tools include:
1. Client centered therapy, or person centered therapy. This is a non-directive approach to talk therapy. It requires the client to actively take the reins during each therapy session, while the therapist acts mainly as a guide or a source of support for the client.
2. Hypno-therapy discussed above.
3. Action Based Practices: talking out our problems is important. However finding solutions and taking action is what changes things. For that reason we focus very much on getting how your physiology changes your biology. You will learn movement and anchoring techniques which help imbed healthy, positive thoughts, feeling and action. You will always be provided activities to have fun with between sessions.
4. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - CBT emphasizes collaboration and active participation on your part. CBT is goal-oriented and problem focused, giving you the client control over your pace and outcomes.
That is also up to you. However based on my experience, I've found initially it is best to start fortnightly for the first 3 -4 sessions. After that time we commonly move to bigger gaps between meetings. I can tell you what works most rapidly and provides the most sustainability, however there are many variables in anyone's life which can limit the ability to move in a strict timeline. You set the pace.
Typically I see most clients on average 8-10 times over an 8 - 12 month period.
